Meet plantkween, Christopher Griffin.

Griffin is a proud plant parent based in Brooklyn, New York, passionate about exploring the creative ways in which plants can be used as vehicles for encouraging conversations dedicated to Black joy, resilience, and LGBTQ+ advocacy. The Plant Kween strives to open the eyes of others and expand their viewpoints of representation and empowerment of QTPOC (Queer and Trans People of Color) in the amazing world of horticulture. Their social media presence has been rooted in a journey of self-care, joy-sharing, and community building, all through the wonders of those little green creatures we call plants.

"Being an educator at heart, Christopher started their Instagram account (@plantkween) in 2016 to share the many lessons, lush adventures, and simple joys that come with being a plant parent."

Griffin enjoys the life he lives as a plant parent, setting up his oasis of an apartment. In Brooklyn, they lead a series of initiatives involving Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and belonging in the tech field, along with priority care for over 200 plants in their gorgeous oasis.

Griffin strives to build an online community through his Instagram account with many fellow "plant kweens, daddies, mamas, and everyone in between," said Griffin. Their presence on social media is based on their self-care journey, spreading joy and light to others, and building a community.

Griffin is a dedicated community builder and author of "You Grow Gurl," a fantabulous self-help guide to becoming a plant parent and keeping their little green gurls healthy and thriving.

Through this guide, Christopher expresses the lush lifestyle of being a plant parent while inspiring and encouraging others to sustain a nurturing plant parent. The guide motivates others to grow and maintain a healthy garden and have a little fun.

"Their aspiration is to continue serving lush lewks and new growth realness alongside their green gurls, have fun with it all, and bring folks along for the wild botanical ride."
