About Bacon
We’re Sizzling, Baby!
In business, “bringing home the bacon” isn’t just about earning—it’s about thriving, breaking barriers, and building legacies. Bacon Magazine was founded in 2022 in Los Angeles to honor that spirit, celebrating and empowering Black women entrepreneurs. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3), Bacon Magazine has given away $233,000 worth of advertising to Black women business owners as part of an initiative to spotlight their accomplishments and provide them with the media coverage they deserve. Our publication is more than a magazine—it’s a movement, a community, and a celebration of success.
We’ve partnered with nonprofit organizations like Galaxy of the Stars to promote Dream Business Bundles for our readers, creating opportunities for emerging entrepreneurs to access valuable resources. In 2024, we were proud to be one of the recipients of the Evals Equity 30 Women of Excellence Award and grant, a recognition of our dedication to providing access and visibility for Black women in business.
We’ve worked with an incredible lineup of talent, including the legendary singer Goapele; Christopher Griffin, biotechnologist and plant enthusiast widely known as The Plant Kween; Melissa A. Mitchell, Miami Art Basel winner and CEO of Abeille Creations; Vanessa Simmons, actress, writer, producer, and designer; and Eric Bellinger, Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter. These collaborations have helped Bacon Magazine solidify its reputation as a trusted publication that truly connects with its readers, delivering thoughtful coverage on everything from business advice to wellness, financial literacy, and personal growth.
We’ve also worked and covered major events such as CultureCon LA and partnered with some of our favorite brands, launching ads for Marc Jacobs, New Balance, Fenty, Mielle Organics, Epsy, and more.
Bacon Magazine exists to preserve and promote the positive image of Black women, sharing stories of resilience, innovation, and success. Our mission is to break barriers, showcase trailblazing leaders across industries, and connect our community with the resources they need to thrive.
Andrea Harris-Walker, a businesswoman from Los Angeles, spearheaded the idea for Bacon Magazine when Black women became the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs. With her visionary energy and leadership, she created a safe space for entrepreneurs and business owners to learn, grow, and connect. Under her guidance, Bacon Magazine has grown into a powerful platform dedicated to uplifting Black women through curated articles, resources, and initiatives designed just for them.
