In a recent development, Dr. Jackie Walters, a cast member of the reality TV show "Married to Medicine," has expressed remorse and a commitment to self-improvement in the wake of controversy surrounding comments she made back in 2020. Dr. Walters, an OB-GYN by profession, drew criticism for her remarks during a podcast interview with fellow cast member Dr. Heavenly Kimes.

On the "Heaven Help Us" podcast, Dr. Walters had said, “Sometimes as African-American women, we’re a bit more dramatic, and that you go to the doctor, and you complain, and you complain, and you complain, and you’re not taken seriously because you cried wolf the entire pregnancy. As African-American women, we want to also make sure you’re being serious with your doctor and not playing the game ... Because then, we see you 25 times in the pregnancy, it’s hard to believe that there’s a true problem when there’s a true problem.”

This comment resurfaced and sparked a debate following an episode of "Married to Medicine," where Dr. Walters engaged in a conversation with Vice President Kamala Harris about the maternal mortality rates among Black women. Dr. Walters publicly apologized on Instagram, stating that she is “taking a much-needed pause” to reflect on her comments from 2020.
