Connect With Dr. Mia Carr

Meet Dr. Mia Carr, a licensed psychotherapist specializing in helping women struggling with loss of connection to themselves and others. With 14 years of experience in mental health, Carr empowers her clients through personal development consultations for issues related to stress, relationships, anxiety, and more. Though not clinical counseling or therapy, her clients appreciate her expertise and educational references, helping them better understand Carr as a teacher and consultant.

Carr's approach has helped many women, parents and members of the LGBTQIA+ community overcome self-defeating thoughts and break free from setbacks to move forward positively. "I teach the strategies you need while meeting you where you are," says Carr. If you're feeling stuck, Dr. Mia Carr may just be the support you need to get back on track.

What are the particular areas in your area of expertise that you believe Black Women should prioritize to boost their mental health and well-being?

My area of expertise derives from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and in short, my expertise is a technique known as thought work; which is essentially the examination of the way one perceives internal and external experiences. Because I believe so strongly that many black women have been conditioned to put their "mask on last." I would encourage the prioritization of intrapersonal relationship building. The relationship we have with ourselves is one of the most important ones to have. It sets the foundation for what we allow; it models for our children or those we care for what loving yourself looks like despite of your current situation; it establishes boundaries that are connected firmly to what you value which in turn encourages self-awareness that can discern what is for you.

Join us in celebrating Dr. Mia Carr and her commitment to promoting healing and wellness in the community in our Self-Love and Wellness edition, launching April 27th, 2023.
