A Vibrant Tribute to Dr. King: The 39th Annual Kingdom Day Parade in South Los Angeles
The 39th Annual Kingdom Day Parade in South Los Angeles is taking place today, January 15, 2024, as the community continues its tradition of celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s enduring legacy.
This year's theme, "Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop, Going To The Promised Land," reflects a dynamic celebration of Dr. King's significant contributions to America and the world. The event is televised live from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, bringing the festivities to a wider audience.
The parade is a spectacle of floats, performances, and community group participations, drawing a large on-site audience and even more viewers on television. A notable participant in this year's parade is the Los Angeles Urban League, which is celebrating their new President & CEO, Cynthia Mitchell-Heard. The Kingdom Day Parade has evolved from a small local gathering to an iconic mass celebration, now attracting over 200,000 attendees and a viewing audience of over 2.4 million on Disney/ABC 7.
