A’ja Wilson Sidelined with Ankle Injury as Aces Fall to Liberty in Tight Matchup

A'ja Wilson’s 2024 WNBA season has been nothing short of extraordinary, solidifying her place as one of the greatest to ever play the game. Not only is she leading the MVP race with 27.5 points and 12.1 rebounds per game, but she has also put up two monster performances, scoring over 40 points twice this season. In a recent game against the Dallas Wings, she dropped 42 points, though the Aces fell just short in a 93-90 loss. She followed that with another 41-point, 17-rebound effort against the Phoenix Mercury, reminding everyone of her unparalleled dominance on both ends of the floor.

A'ja Wilson’s absence was deeply felt in the Las Vegas Aces' narrow 75-71 loss to the New York Liberty. Without Wilson, who sat out due to her ankle injury, the Aces struggled early but fought back from a 20-point deficit. Despite their efforts, the Liberty capitalized on key moments, with Sabrina Ionescu stepping up in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Kelsey Plum led the charge for the Aces, but her missed layup and a critical block by Breanna Stewart sealed the Aces' fate as they missed Wilson's presence on both ends of the court.

Coach Becky Hammon reassured fans that while the ankle injury is concerning, it’s not a long-term issue. Wilson will have time to rest and recover, especially with the playoffs approaching, where she will once again be expected to lead the Aces on a deep run.
