California has introduced AB 2319, a groundbreaking bill aimed at combating the disproportionately high maternal mortality rates among Black women and other pregnant persons of color. This legislation seeks to enforce full compliance with the California Dignity in Pregnancy and Childbirth Act (SB 464), focusing on reducing implicit bias in healthcare. It comes in response to the alarming disparity that sees Black women significantly more likely to suffer from pregnancy-related deaths, regardless of income levels.
